The Challenge

Moving from division-centric to a customer centric approach.

Our Goal

The primary goal was to consolidate 32 distinct website portfolios catering to various industries into a cohesive website experience. We explored and analyzed the existing content marketing strategies across divisions to formulate and implement a unified strategy termed "One Web."

Project Scope

  • Competitive Benchmarking
  • IA Mapping
  • Accessibility Audit
  • Heuristic Evaluation
  • Component Based Approach

Competitive Benchmarking

Lead Generation Flows.

Following the information gleaned from websites shared by stakeholders during the interview and the details presented in the Kick-Off meeting, we conducted a comprehensive competitive benchmarking analysis. This analysis was centered on evaluating the Lead Generation Flows employed by the client's competitors.

IA Mapping

Charting Digital Journeys.

To establish a unified and cohesive experience, we undertook the task of mapping the information architecture for each website within the scope. This initiative aimed to enhance our understanding of similarities among them. A crucial aspect of this analysis involved identifying various template types based on the content displayed on these websites, laying the foundation for a robust Content Model strategy.

"Accessibility isn't just a checkbox; it's a cornerstone of a user-centric and socially responsible online presence."

A11 Audit

Fostering inclusivity and a positive user experience.

Why is this important?

Ensuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility standards is crucial in fostering an inclusive digital environment. Compliance not only aligns with legal requirements but also underscores a commitment to social responsibility and equal access.

By adhering to ADA guidelines, websites and digital platforms become more user-friendly for individuals with disabilities, enhancing their overall online experience.

Some Recommendations

  • Keyboard Navigation Friendly
  • Alternative Text for Images
  • Fix Heading Hierarchy
  • Include ARIA Atributes
  • Increased Color Contrast
  • AA Accessibility Level
  • Fonts and Relative Sizes

Heuristic Evaluation

Vital method for identifying usability issues in design.

Applying well-established usability principles, we pinpoint potential bottlenecks and usability issues. This systematic approach lays the groundwork for focused improvements, enhancing the overall effectiveness of our client's website lead generation process.

Component Approach

For efficiency, scalability and consistency.

Navigating the complexities of a large-scale website involves careful planning, robust infrastructure, and a keen focus on user experience.

A component-based approach, particularly with a CMS tool like Sitecore, streamlines this process. By breaking down the site into modular components, updates and modifications become more manageable, ensuring consistency and reducing development time.

Grid Layout

The implementation of a grid system is instrumental in crafting responsive websites with consistent designs, promoting cross-browser compatibility. This system effectively segments the page into uniform columns, providing a structured framework for content arrangement and alignment in user experience design.

Components

Components, acting as building blocks, seamlessly integrate into the structured grid system, allowing for a systematic arrangement of content. This collaboration ensures consistency and responsiveness.

Templates

By aligning components within the grid, we achieve a harmonious balance between structure and flexibility, ultimately bringing layout templates to life and enhancing the overall user experience with a cohesive and adaptable design.

Fluid Component Design

In fluid web design, page element widths are proportionally set to the screen, layout, or browser window width. A fluid website adjusts its size based on the current layout or viewport width. This design approach enhances usability across devices with different screen dimensions, ensuring adaptability and a consistent user experience.

"OneWeb embodied collaboration across departments, including development, marketing, content strategy, UX, and Creative design."

Summary

The results.

The initial steps we've taken mark the beginning of a larger endeavor to cultivate a seamless user experience for the client's extensive portfolio, encompassing a diverse range of services and products catering to various industries.

While our focus in this initial project stage was on UX Research and laying the foundation for OneWeb, this collaborative effort sets the stage for a holistic and user-centric transformation in the client's digital landscape.
